A tribal women-led producer company

Ghummar Mahila Producer Company Limited (GMPCL) is a beacon of tribal women empowerment and rural equity, showcasing how community-led initiatives can transform socio-economic landscapes. Founded to address the challenges faced by marginalized communities in western Rajasthan, GMPCL integrates equity and empowerment into its constitution, ensuring that tribal women not only participate but lead in creating sustainable livelihoods.Focusing on the value addition of NTFPs, GMPCL processes Sitafal and Jamun into high- value products like custard fruit pulp for ice creams and Jamun shots for health-conscious consumers. These products provide affordable nutrition while creating employment opportunities for over 5,000 families .Registered in 2015, GMPCL achieved a significant milestone by generating ₹3.6 crore in revenue during FY 2024-25 By 2030, the company aims to expand its impact to 20,000 families, fostering equity, empowerment, and environmental conservation.

GMPCL adds value to local forest fruit with 5,000 tribal families and 45 village-level collection centres. Core products are Custard Apple Pulp, Jamun Slice and Guava Pulp. Fair prices are paid at the village, without middlemen.

How it works

Collected near home, processed every hour

Forty-five village-level collection centres sit near members’ homes. Families bring fruit they have collected or grown; pulp, slices and seeds are prepared under GMPCL leadership, then sent to the processing unit.

Fair sourcing

Custard apple, Jamun and guava are bought directly from tribal women at equitable prices, without intermediaries.

Value addition

Pulp extraction, packing and freezing raise market value while keeping the nutrition of the fruit.

Skills & leadership

Training in processing, bookkeeping and financial literacy so women are leaders, not only labour.

Objectives and impact

Income, equity and the forest

During the Sitafal season in November and December, many families earn an extra ₹15,000 a month from this work, and some ₹35,000–₹40,000. GMPCL was registered in 2015 and works with about 5,000 tribal families.
